Like Bethlehem and Galilee, Elim is a place name from the Bible. It is the name of an oasis, a place of refreshing and renewal.
Leigh Elim Church is one of over 550 Elim Churches here in the UK, with many more all over the world. It was the first Elim Church in England and was opened in 1921. You can find out more about this church movement on www.elim.org.uk or on our own web page www.elimleigh.co.uk
We are delighted to be here and we want to take this opportunity to let you know something about the church and ourselves. We are a family friendly Pentecostal Church and don’t believe church should be boring and dull but an exciting place of refreshing. We like lively, vibrant music and good preaching. Our services are tailored for families and young children and we have separated activities for both children and young people during the morning services. All ages are welcome.
So what about us? We are from Yorkshire. We have been Christians, i.e. followers of Jesus, since we were in our late teens. For 25 years Ann was a music and piano teacher; Derrick was a policeman for 22 years, working as a detective in Humberside. We both have a wealth of life experiences. We have been full time Christian Workers for the past ten years and have been Pastors for the last five. We have two married children, one in Liverpool and one who lives in the USA; we also have four grandchildren.
“I will give you shepherds after my own heart who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.” Jer 3:15 |

Let us introduce ourselves. Our names are Derrick and Ann Wilks and we have just been appointed as the ministers of the Elim Church here on Glendale Gardens. We are available should you need a listening ear. Give us a ring to arrange a time to meet over coffee or pop in on a Tuesday morning to the church. |
