Who we are   - Our History

Founded in 1921, Elim Pentecostal Church Leigh was the first Elim Church in England. It became the centre of a work that stretched across East Anglia and played host to such great Christian giants as Smith Wigglesworth and George Jeffreys

The building was bombed during the war but the work of the church continued amongst the servicemen billeted in the town, providing for both their spiritual and practical needs. A new building was erected in 1950 and the Church’s ministry to children especially mushroomed. The 70s too saw tremendous growth with regular ‘Power, Praise and Healing’ meetings.

Times change and the way we do things now is vastly different from 1921 or even 1975 but the message of Jesus Christ and His gospel remains the same.
