My story by Donna
|
My name is Donna. I was brought up in a non-Christian but strict family. My Mum sent me to Sunday School even though she did not attend church herself. I joined the Girls Brigade and was there for several years. I then left and joined the Salvation Army as a Junior Soldier and was there for several years as well.
I left about the age of 14 and went along with my Nan to her church for a while until my Grandad became ill. My Nan had to stop going to church to care for him. After about a year or so he died and my Nan started going to church again and I eventually went along too. I met Cliff there and within a short time we were married and we continued going to church.
I loved God, prayed, read my Bible, even listened to ministry tapes whenever I could. Then one day a visiting minister came to our church and what he said changed my life.
He spoke about the time when Jesus was arrested, just before He was crucified, and about how Peter, one of His closest disciples, followed "afar off”.
He then told us that when he visits other countries he has to follow closely to the car that's leading him to the venue he will be speaking at. If he followed "afar off" he could end up following another car that looks similar and find himself miles from where he needs to be.
That spoke so much to me and I realised I had been following Jesus "afar off". Though I loved God and thought I was doing all the right things, I realised I had a knowledge of God but didn't have a personal relationship with my Lord and Saviour.
As I said my life changed and I began to seek God more and more. Jesus is now my closest friend and I know I can turn to Him whenever I have a need. He is only a prayer away.
. If reading this has made you wonder where you stand with God, you can do something about it right now.
Here is a simple prayer that will help you to be sure that your sins are forgiven:
Dear Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you that you died on the cross for me. I am really sorry for all the bad things I have done in my life. Please forgive me and clean up my life. I ask you to come into my life, help me to live it from now to please you, and be a real Christian.
Be sure that you tell someone, if you have said that prayer and really meant it, and find a Bible-believing church, or an Alpha Course to learn more about Jesus. |
