Update on what is happening

October 2, 2018

In an earlier post we chatted about what we expected after the Koreans had been here and as they continued to pray for us. At the time I said I had no idea what God was going to do but was convinced that God was about to do something.

That was just a few short weeks ago and things are changing here. Josh and Rebekah are two of our young married. They left last year to go to Regents Bible College to do a degree in theology that would one day maybe take them into ministry. After successfully completing their first year they have decided to continue their degree but by a Contextual Route; where they return home, study from home and take an active part in church life. They will also be completing their placement with us here at Leigh where they each undertake 120 hours of supervised work over a 6 month period. What a blessing having these two talented people with us will be.

Adding all this to our existing team of talented folks then we are positioning ourselves for God to move. We have some amazing youth leaders, worship leaders, musicians and children’s workers all who have real servant hearts and whom it’s a real pleasure to work alongside.

Its also possible that within 2 weeks we will have two South Korean interns joining us for 4 months.

So stuff is happening. Church has never been so exciting and I am certain that there isn't another church like us in this area. Last week I asked who wanted to learnt to preach and a number of our youth said yes.....some are just turned 10 years old and we wont be waiting for them to get to 18 either. We plan on starting these kids off soon with some practical teaching and then find them opportunities to have a go. Church isn't just for adults, or the professional leaders. Its for all.

This made me start to think about all the people we have involved in our teams. On  a Sunday morning we average somewhere over 50 people. I counted up we have 24 folks involved in our worship teams with them each being used at least once a month, we have 24 people involved in our children's and youth work (excluding the kids themselves) and a further 24 people involved in our community projects which includes our Community Choir.

It will change what Ann and I do as we will be more mentors than we have but with all the experience we have gathered over the years then this shouldn't be too much of a gear change.

Last week we started our Heating Campaign, the heating at church needs to be replaced and will cost several thousands to do so, so that we can be warm on a Sunday morning, and other times. Envelopes will be made available for folks to contribute over the coming weeks. This will be the first time we have had to ask for financial support in many year.
